Book signing event at Laurel Book Store in Downtown Oakland

We love that Laurel Book Store owner Luan Stauss has moved her popular book store to downtown Oakland- it's in one of our favorite historic buildings in the city and couldn't be more convenient.  She's a long time supporter of the book- our very first book event was at her Laurel District location- before the book even released!

Come join us and check out the gorgeous shop (right across from City Hall) if you haven't already. We'll be there this Thursday, August 6th, at 6pm.  Tell your realtor and concierge friends too- if they don't know about the book, we think they should!

1423 Broadway, Oakland (right at the 12th Street BART)

Rakestraw Books Walking Tour with Melissa

This Is Oakland Tour with Melissa Davis Start: 06/28/2014 9:00 am   Who: Melissa Davis What: Leading a walking tour -- inspired by her new book This Is Oakland -- of one of Oakland's most exciting neighborhoods (downtown? Temescal?). Tour includes opportunities for learning, shopping, and snacking! When: Saturday, 28 June 2014 at 9 AM.  Where: Details are still being worked out. We may carpool from Danville, but we might also BART over. How much? $40/person or $50/couple (each ticket includes a copy of This Is Oakland). Why you should care:  This is Oakland: A Guide to the City's Most Interesting Places is a photo-driven travel/guide book that informs, entertains, and inspires. The book profiles 90 of the most interesting places to visit in Oakland- from cafes to boutiques- and the innovators who own them. This book is of course for anyone who lives in or is visiting Oakland or the San Francisco Bay Area and wants to know where to go for food, drink, shopping or just plain fun. Perhaps more importantly, though, this book is for anyone, across the country, who is inspired by creative thought and the pioneering spirit. Oakland's restaurants are trend-setting, and its shops are getting national attention. People who want to know what's next are looking to Oakland. We're offering them a glimpse inside. We're delighted to be hosting a one-of-a-kind walking tour with Melissa Davis. It's going to be terrific fun!   Location:  550 Hartz Ave Danville California 94526
